What is a Whole Number?

A Number is a means of counting, measuring, or assigning

things.

We can say 5 students or 1,347 patients.

In these two examples, both 5 and 1,347 are Whole Numbers.

What is a Fraction?

Some entities may exist as a part of the whole. This may

not be true of people, but it can certainly be the case for

inanimate objects.


We can have ½ of a cookie to share or ¾ of a puzzle to finish.


Both ½ and ¾ are Fractions.
